KITESPOTS
Ceara’s coastline, which runs from Bitupitá beach in the west, to Icapuí, in the extreme east, is 573 km long. Only small bays and narrow river mouths disrupt the superb linearity of the coast.
The seawater is almost always bluish green, except during long and heavy rains. Beaches are usually long, sometimes totally empty, sometimes busy, with some tourist support, but always adorned by uncountable coconut palm trees. All water sports practitioners should be aware that there are some beaches with rocks and cliffs near the beach, that can only been seen at low tide. Sometimes they are disappearing for a couple of days under new sand washed ashore.
The coast upwind from Fortaleza is called „Costa Sol Nascente“ - sunrise coast.
The coast downwind from Fortaleza is called „Costa Sol Poente“ - sunset coast. Cumbuco is located on this side and offers an ideal mix for Kiteboarders: shallow and flat water in the Barra do Cauipe Lagoon, about 15 minutes away from the Kitecenter by car, waveriding down winding to the lagoon close to the beach, conditions of open sea in front of the Kitecenter area, with surfable waves only on high tide. Depending on tide and swell there can also be breaking wave on small outside reef.
